You can also check this out by restarting your computer and accessing the drive. Launch the WD Security software and choose your drive. Enter the password for your drive in the Password and Verify Password fields. Double-click the WD Apps Setup. Click "Next" to dismiss the opening screen of the setup wizard, check the box to accept the license agreement and then click "Next" again.
Place a check next to all of the programs you'd like to install and then click "Next" to begin the installation process. The WD Security utility is the one that offers password protection for your drive.
Click "Finish" when the wizard has completed its tasks to close the dialog, and WD Security launches automatically. It can also be launched in the future using the WD Security shortcut on the desktop.
You could check the Support window and open a case. If WD Security app does not see your device then your device does not support it. What is your device model? Like 25A2, etc… then there I can help you find if your device support or not. You can look in the. Support Downloads Knowledge Base.
I have a month free. Apparently not only do you need to reformat, but you also need a program named SmartWare to allow for changes to be made, like adding passwords.
This information would have made today, run a lot smoother. Especially when the box said it was quick and easy to do. I still am having trouble creating a password though. I made one, and while I was then typing in my password hint ,the screen simply closed. I tried twice more. I shut my computer down, both times, and reformatted the drive, as if I was starting anew. The first time the screen closed even faster.
The second time I managed to create one, but when I clicked accept or finish, I heard a noise that my computer makes, when something is invalid.
I am completely lost, and am thinking that I might just return this product to the store. Can someone please reply! Two weeks, and no reply.
